AFT Pass Throughs
During the 2026 conventions, AFT Michigan and AFT National adopted a combined 40 cent increase in per caps. In accordance with our national bylaws, when “passing through” increases originate at the state and national levels, locals are obligated to incorporate the addition into their local dues structure to remain in good standing.
We are addressing this increase with this notification of members of the mandated adjustment and have recorded the change in the union’s dues structure to ensure transparency and compliance. This dues change was effective September 8, 2026, the first pay day of the 2026-2027 school year. Payroll deductions of union dues begin with the September 8th paycheck.
