DFT Fall 2026 Election Details

Here are the details for the upcoming election for DFT:
Nominations are open until the end of the general membership meeting on October 8th, 2026.
The election will run to Monday, November 16th until Friday, November 20th.
Please refer to the election calendar for further procedures and details.
At the August 11th DPSCD school board meeting, members unanimously approved the tentative agreement for DFT Units M (paraprofessionals) and S (food service workers). These members voted overwhelmingly to ratify the TA. The DFT negotiated this contract because the former Detroit Federation of Paraprofessionals merged into the DFT last year.
The AFT has always been a solutions-driven union, and our new campaign, launched during TEACH on July 21, proves it once again with a fresh, practical approach to strengthening public education. As AFT President Randi Weingarten pointed out during her keynote speech, the $5 million, yearlong campaign, “Real Solutions for Kids and Communities,” stands up against attacks on public schools and offers real-world solutions to build up, rather than break down, our communities.
