The City Union of Baltimore (CUB) has initiated a series of activities designed to engage that union in the “Reclaiming the Promise” effort, called for by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). The nation-wide initiative is intended to galvanize local communities and engage them in activities intended to reclaim the promise of high-quality public services and public education.

Local unions are partnering with NYSUT, using phone banks in regional offices, voter data from NYSUT's records departments, and postcards and materials available online, to get voters to the polls and to pass their local school budgets.
The South Lewis Teachers Association Vote-COPE campaign kicks off this week. We ask that each member carefully read through the Vote-COPE information placed in your mailbox and check it for accuracy.
Vote-COPE is the political arm of NYSUT and the funds raise thrrough your voluntary donations are used to offset the costs of lobbying efforts for causes and policies that directly affect education and our membership. We ask that you give generously to assure that the best interests of education are supported by elected officials.
(New Orleans – May 16, 2014) The board of one of America’s highest performing high schools has agreed to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement with teachers. On Thursday night, Benjamin Franklin High School in New Orleans became the city’s second charter school to embrace the collective voice of their teaching staff by formally recognizing a union.
