On Wednesday, January 7th, the newly elected members of the NYS Assembly and Senate will convene to open their 2015 legislative session.
Maryland Professional Employees Council, AFT, AFL-CIO Local #6197 and the State of Maryland have concluded negotiations for a three year (2015-2017) successor agreement to the 2014-2015 MOU.

(Baton Rouge – December 16, 2014) Funding for public education’s Minimum Foundation Program will increase by some $75 million next year if a plan approved by the state’s MFP task Force today is adopted by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Legislature.
“We started an important conversation today about the choices Louisiana must make for the future of our children,” said Louisiana Federation of Teachers President Steve Monaghan.
In accordance with the CUB Constitution and By-laws, Article 1, Section 1, this is to inform you of the increase in Per-Capita* (pass-through) tax since 2007 in the amount of six dollars and fifty-three cents ($6.53) per month. This pass-through increases were voted on at the 2008, 2010, 2014 American Federation of Teachers (AFT) National Convention and the AFT-Maryland Constitutional Convention in 2009 and 2013. The increases were not passed on according to the Constitution. You will be charged the pass-through increase of $2.92 two dollars ninety-two effective January 1, 2015.
The time has come for me to turn a new chapter in my life. As of December 31st, I am retiring as a 45 year employee of the Baltimore City Public School System, 17 years with the City Union of Baltimore.
