Rally for Public Education: March 9th

Maryland's public schools are under attack.
Don't Shortchange Maryland Education!

Join us in Annapolis, Monday, March 9th, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.
Meet at the House of Delegates in the Canteen,
6 Bladen St., Annapolis, 1st floor.

  • Say NO to funding cuts to Maryland Public Education.
  • Say NO to Governor Hogan's Charter Expansion bill, which would undermine teachers' rights, remove essential oversight, and lower the quality of education in Maryland charter schools.
  • Say NO to the rising cost of higher education in Maryland.

Don't Let Annapolis Shortchange Maryland Education

Gov. Hogan’s $144 million in school funding cuts threaten the progress of our top-notch public schools, slashing an average of $3,600 from every classroom and $100,000 from every school. We can’t let these cuts challenge our students’ success.

Opt Out Concerns

Many members' have voiced concerns about whether to have their own children Opt Out of State Tests. This is a topic that many parents, educators and community leaders are now discussing and considering. The movement is growing and very active in an increasing number of communities on Long Island. At Herricks, Opting Out was minimal last year. We have worked hard to educate our members and as a result are now getting many questions from them about what to do with their own children.

Newsletter from the Executive Board, February 24, 2015

Dear colleagues,

I'm taking a few moments to let you know what your union has learned about the current budget crisis, and the best ways that we think we can help each other.

First, let’s all support our adjuncts on national adjunct walk out day, this Wednesday (tomorrow!), by wearing black armbands.

Secondly, it is election time. Here is a message from Jim Phillips
