As these charters have grown, banks and corporations have developed ways, and found alternative credit routes, to provide capital to charter schools at favorable rates. What are these rates? And what are they funding? Have taxpayers and state legislators had an opportunity to review these credit applications?

Come to Lobby Night in Annapolis Feb 22nd

Last year, Governor Hogan put our members on high alert. He cut funding to Baltimore City Public Schools, demanded cutting each state agency by 2% and attempted to remove collective bargaining rights from teachers and staff at public charters schools.

Because of YOUR efforts in Annapolis last year, we were able to keep the 2% for state and government workers, and protect collective bargaining rights teachers and staff at public charter schools. JOIN US again this year!

Educators concerned about house committee chair

(Baton Rouge – January 29, 2016) Leaders of the state’s two largest public education organizations are expressing concern over the appointment of State Representative Nancy Landry as chairperson of the House Education Committee. Speaker of the House Taylor Barras announced the appointment late Thursday afternoon.
